A group of concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Somolu Constituency I has appealed to the Lagos State Chairman of the party, Apostle Cornelius Ojelabi, to ensure fairness and balance in the distribution of elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an open letter signed by Rasaki Aro, the group expressed concern over the need for equitable representation among the various political interests within the constituency.
According to the letter, if the House of Representatives ticket is allotted to the political group associated with Hon. Kolade Alabi, then the House of Assembly ticket should be allocated to the group led by Hon. Dullar.
The group argued that such an arrangement would promote unity, inclusiveness, and a stronger sense of belonging among party members. It warned that the 2027 elections are likely to be highly competitive and urged the party leadership not to underestimate the importance of balancing interests within the constituency.
The concerned members further stated that a fair distribution of political opportunities would strengthen the APC’s grassroots support and reassure party faithful that the party remains committed to justice, equity, and internal democracy rather than a winner-takes-all approach.
They expressed confidence that the party leadership would give their appeal due consideration and respond favourably in the interest of party cohesion and electoral success.
Part of the open letter reads:
“We, the concerned citizens of Somolu Constituency I, advise that one political group should not be given both the House of Representatives and House of Assembly tickets.
“For equity and balance ahead of the 2027 elections, since Hon. Kolade Alabi’s group has been allotted the House of Representatives ticket, we urge the party to consider allocating the House of Assembly ticket to Hon. Dullar’s group.
“The 2027 election will be highly competitive, and we do not want this important consideration to be overlooked.
“We can engage our people and assure them that our party is not based on a winner-takes-all philosophy. We hope to receive a favourable response.”
