Bashir Ahmad reaffirms Bayo Onanuga’s tweet that Tinubu’s critics will soon suddenly die.
An aide to President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team named Bashir Ahmad amplified a tweet posted by Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, in which Onanuga claimed that critics of President-elect Bola Tinubu will pass away in the near future.
Mr. Onanuga tweeted, “All those sons of bitches tweeting the hashtags #TinubuTheDrugDealer #TinubuForPrison, your days are numbered.”
Mr. Ahmad retweeted the message in order to show his approval and support for Mr. Onanuga’s death wish for Mr. Tinubu’s critics. In doing so, he amplified the message and made it more visible to his 1.5 million followers on Twitter.
It has been less than 24 hours since the State Security Service (SSS) cautioned politicians against making statements that could incite or inflame tensions, but Mr. Onanuga’s wish that Mr. Tinubu’s critics would die comes shortly after.
In a statement issued on Saturday, SSS condemned those who had made statements that were inciting and inflammatory, and it warned of taking action against those individuals.
“It is upsetting to see respected personalities use their platforms to mislead or incite members of the public. It is safe to say that this does not bode well for the maintenance of general order and peaceful coexistence.
According to a statement released by the SSS on Saturday, “Therefore, the Service will continue to take necessary measures to checkmate these elements who do not wish the country well,” part of the text of the statement reads.
