Nigerian Cyclist, Real-Emmiwuks, Raises Alarm Over Fake Accounts and Betrayal

Nigerian cyclist and humanitarian, Real-Emmiwuks, who is on a journey from Nigeria to United State of America (USA) riding a bicycle with a mission to raise awareness and support for orphans, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable children, has cried out over the growing number of fake social media accounts impersonating him.
In a heartfelt post on his official Facebook page, Real-Emmiwuks disclosed that over 100 fake pages have been created in his name on Facebook alone, with similar accounts also springing up on TikTok. He lamented that one of the fake TikTok accounts has already gained more than 6,000 followers, while his genuine account is struggling with just 3,000.
“My team was able to trace one of the Facebook impostors down to Benue State, my very own home. That broke me even more… because it’s one thing for strangers to impersonate you, but it’s another level of pain when it’s your own person, the very ones who should be standing with you, choosing instead to exploit you,”
he said. He also revealed that one of the impersonators has been traced to his own state in Benue State where the cyclist hails which he said made it more painful to see that his own people who should be his major support are the also joining others to impersonate and exploit him.
The activist emphasized that despite the huge sacrifices of his journey — riding sometimes barefooted across unknown territories, sleeping on the roadside, enduring hunger and exhaustion — he has not made any money from social media. Yet, impersonators are exploiting his name for selfish gain.
In a direct challenge to the impostors, he declared:
“Come take this bicycle and continue from where I stopped… ride under the sun and rain, let’s see if you will have the energy to even post online.”
Real-Emmiwuks urged his supporters to be vigilant, stressing that he has only one official Facebook account and social media handles under the name: Real-Emmiwuks. He revealed that his team is already in talks with Facebook to secure verification.
While describing the impersonation as both exploitation and betrayal, the cyclist maintained faith that justice will prevail.
“But it is well. I believe God sees every sacrifice, every tear, every pain. One day, the truth will speak louder than any fake page,”
he said.
He concluded by appreciating his supporters: “Your support is what keeps me going.”
