Education: Private Schools Association Organized Dinner Night in Akwanga, Rewards Past Leaders..

In the evening of May 27th Children’s Day, after the explosive and wonderful Children’s Day Celebration Organized by (NAPPS), National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Akwanga Chapter, Nasarawa State, a dinner and Award Night was also organized by the Association, where they gave themselves a treat and presented Awards to certain individuals that have labored for the Association.
At the Dinner, a speech was presented by Mr OGA THOMAS ONA, a Lecturer and the Proprietor, Oludu Excellent Academy on “MAXIMIZING TEAM WORK AS PRIVATE SCHOOL OPERATORS FOR THE GROWTH OF THE ASSOCIATION AND EDUCATION DELIVERY IN UNCERTAIN ECONOMIC REALITIES IN NIGERIA”.

Mr OGA THOMAS ONA spoke to Private Schools Owners on the need to come together and work as a team in order to support productivity, problem solving abilities and enhance creativity and Innovation, a better decision making process among others.
He also spoke to ‘NAPPS’ on what to do to achieve team work, such as Effective Communication among members, from members to leaders and vice versa, to also assign Roles and Responsibilities, Respect and Trust for each other etc.
The Guest speaker, Mr Ona also stated areas that NAPPS need to work on as a team for the growth of the Association at the educational development level, such as Relationship with the Government. He urges the association to engage in lobbying activities to advocate for policies and measures that benefit their interest by cultivating relationships with the Government Officials and Policy makers, Relationship with parents and guardians. He urged private schools owners to work as a team in addressing issues related to parents, issues like transferring children from one school to another without transfer certificate due to lack of the payment of school fees and encourage Relationship with Public Relations and have Media influence. He advise that NAPPS can have her presence on air with discussion’s on contributions of Private school’s to educational development amongst other interesting topics can be discussed and how government should support private initiative’s in educational sector etc.
After the speech, Awards were given to some pioneers of NAPPS who have worked hard for the Organization.
The first was Elder ALLU BEN GABI Proprietor Redeem College Akwanga,he was one of the first pioneer coordinator of Akwanga Chapter in 2002 and he nursed the Akwanga Chapter to Maturity before handling over after 9 years at the helm of affairs in 2011,his love for NAPPS is as deep as an ocean and has continued to support the cause of NAPPS across Nasarawa state.
The second person to be awarded was APOSTLE JOHNSON OLADIMEJI DA-SILVA, He is the Proprietor, Royal kindred Schools, Andaha. He was the second elected Chairman of Akwanga Chapter in 2011 and at that time, he managed the association both in Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba with the three Local Government Chapters doing well under his leadership as the Northern Senatorial Zonal Coordinating Leader. After 7 years, he became the North Central Zonal Secretary of NAPPS and through his leadership and contribution, the Zonal Education Summit was introduced,a summit still sustained till date.
The third person that was awarded is Mrs PEACE NGUSUUR AGU, proprietress De Ultimate Glory Academy. She has been a member of NAPPS for 18 years and has successfully held unto the association till date. She has served the association in many Committee both at the local Chapter and state levels. She became the Secretary of Akwanga Chapter in 2011, a position she held until June 12,2018 when she took over as the Chapter Coordinator, and recently handed over on January 13,2024. In October 2023,NAPPS Nasarawa state Chapter Conferred on her the NAPPS outstanding Achievement Award.
These individuals were Awarded by the Organization for there effort and hardwork.
TEC News Reporter, Peace Augustine gathered that the occasion was well attended by representatives of the association from National level, to Zone, and downwards with stakeholders and Government offices such as the Ministry of Education Inspectorate Office, Local Government Education Authority and the Department of Health Services all in Akwanga Local Government Area.
