NigeriaElections2023: In Akwa Ibom, thugs matchete two people, carted away BVAS

Before stealing one Bimodal Voter Accreditation System for polling units 11 and 12 at Oniong West Ward 1 in the state’s Onna Local Government Area, hoodlums in Akwa Ibom State who were thought to be party supporters cut two voters with matchets.

According to a source who requested anonymity and told our correspondent that the victims were being treated at an unnamed hospital in the LGA, they had been taken there immediately.

“Some hoodlums stormed units 11 and 12 at Oniong West Ward 1 in Onna Local Government Area of the state and hijacked one BVAS,” the source claimed. Prior to escaping into the bush, they gave two of their victims matchet cuts.
“The victims have been taken to the hospital in Onna LGA for treatment.”
However, Mr. Iniabasi Ekanem, the chairman of the Onna LGA, who confirmed the incident, stated that the security agencies were handling it.

We have a few minor issues, but how we handle them will ultimately determine how well. The security guards posted nearby assisted in calming the situation.
