Sen. Kashim Shettima, a candidate for vice president in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized Atiku Abubakar, a candidate for president in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for failing to pay attention to the North-East during his eight years as vice president.

Atiku doesn’t deserve the Northeast’s vote, according to Shettima, who spoke at the Yobe South APC rally on Tuesday in Potiskum.

“You cannot support a candidate for vice president who served for eight years without completing eight projects in his stead. You can’t vote for someone who served as Vice President for eight years without also advancing eight people, he said.

Shettima claimed that the majority of Atiku’s close friends—including Fariya and Baba Wuro Barambu—died without receiving any real support from Atiku.

“Adamawa native Abdullahi Nyako passed away in a rented home; Fariya committed suicide out of rage. What kind of brotherhood or associate is this if Baba Wuro Barambu was the closest person to Atiku in Gombe State and he passed away in debt? Shettima questioned.

Even the road leading to Atiku’s ancestral home, Ganye, was allegedly built by the APC-led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, according to the APC vice presidential candidate.

He urged Yobe State voters to cast their ballots for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC rather than casting them for a candidate who doesn’t care about them or their entire state.

Speaking at the rally, Senate President Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan said that the other two zones would be challenged by the Potiskum turnout.

“We will demonstrate our value with significant votes that will deliver the State to our fantastic party.

With significant support from Yobe State, we will ensure that the Asiwaju/Shettima ticket wins, Lawan declared.

The governor Mai Mala Buni claimed that the large turnout of APC supporters at the Yobe zone “B” rally in Potiskum had increased the party’s confidence in claiming a resounding victory over rival parties in the upcoming general elections.
