Willie Junior Maxwell II, better known by his stage name Fetty Wap, was given a prison sentence of six years for his role in a transnational drug trafficking operation.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York released a statement on Wednesday clarifying this information for the public.
According to The Guardian, the rapper, who is 31 years old, entered a guilty plea in August to a drug conspiracy charge. In his plea, he admitted to being a participant in a large-scale scheme involving the distribution of at least 500g or more of cocaine.
The charge carries with it a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years.
The prosecution alleged that Fetty Wap and his four co-defendants were involved in a drug ring that operated in New York and New Jersey and dealt heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine.
The remaining four defendants have all entered guilty pleas, and they are currently awaiting their sentences.
