The Federal Government has released the schedule of events for President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29.

The event, which is expected to be attended by top dignitaries, foreign leaders, and heads of governments, will commemorate the country’s 7th consecutive democratic transition of power since its inception.

While unveiling the program at a world press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, Mr Boss Mustapha, said arrangements in place will ensure a smooth transition of power on May 29.

Mustapha also assured citizens that nothing will prevent the inauguration from taking place on May 29th, and that the legal battle will not prevent the event from taking place. He went on to say that the inauguration is an opportunity for citizens to witness Nigeria’s togetherness, unity, peace, and progress.

“Monday, May 29th, 2023 will be the inauguration Parade/Swearing-In at Eagle Square,” he said, as he listed the events planned for the Presidential inauguration.
“Let me assure Nigerians and indeed the global community once more of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to the smooth transfer of power to President-Elect, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Mustapha said.

“Because of the democratic values and lessons in nationhood, the upcoming event is historically significant to this great nation and the international community, particularly Africa.” For these reasons, we have chosen the theme ‘NIGERIA: Better Together’ for the 2023 transition.
