The results of the recently held gubernatorial election, which named Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP as the victor and declared him the winner, as baseless and flawed and unable to withstand the test of time, according to the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Kano.
At a crowded press conference on Tuesday, Abdul Fagge, the legal advisor for the APC, stated that over 270,000 votes being invalidated prevented the election from being declared successful.
In accordance with Section 65 of the Electoral Law of 2022, he stated: “We have written to INEC to reconsider and cancel the hasty, incorrect, and self-serving declaration of the NNPP as the election’s victor, and declared the conduct inconclusive.”
He claimed that they have since written to INEC requesting that they review the results of the election in accordance with electoral law and declare them to be inconclusive within seven days.

The INEC Returning Officer, according to Fagge, acted egotistically and in violation of the law.
He pointed out that since elections in Kano clearly descended into violence, INEC should declare those elections inconclusive if it could do so for those in Kebbi and Adamawa states due to violence and excessive voting.
Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the majority leader in the House of Representatives, spoke at the briefing and drew a comparison between the National Assembly election and the governorship election, the latter of which has been deemed inconclusive.
Out of the 13 polling locations, Doguwa noted that 12 were closed due to violence and excessive voting. He has since accepted his faith while waiting for the election’s reruns.
