Governor Yahaya Bello, who is overseeing the Kogi State governorship election, has warned candidates running on the APC platform to avoid dividing the party.

Instead, he advised them to concentrate on their advantages in courting party members before the party’s primary election, which is scheduled for April.

Mr. Bello’s counsel follows controversy that surrounded the suspension of Murtala Yakubu, a state-based member of the APC National Working Committee.

The governor issued a warning against polarizing tendencies that could endanger the party’s interests and threaten the peace and unity that the ruling party had become known for in the state under his leadership, according to a statement from Kingsley Fanwo, the commissioner for information and communications.

The party would guarantee a level playing field for the best candidate to win the primary election, the governor reaffirmed.

He expressed certainty that the APC would win the governorship election in November by a sizable margin.

The governor sent his best wishes to all of the candidates running for governor.
