On Monday, hostilities between the Omor and Anaku communities in Anambra State’s Ayamelum Local Government Area resumed over a disputed piece of land, resulting in the deaths of about six people.
Both communities once engaged in a bloody conflict that resulted in the destruction of numerous structures and the deaths of many people.
According to a source, the hostilities resumed on Monday following a dispute between members of the two communities.
“On Monday night, Anaku people killed up to 10 people in Omor. Later, security officers arrived and made an effort to control the situation, according to the source.

Six people were killed, according to the Anambra State Police Command, which also declared one Nnamdi Maduneke wanted for inciting the violence and carrying an AK-47 rifle.
“Anambra State Police Command is on the manhunt for Mr. Nnamdi Maduneke and cohorts, wielding AK-47 rifles in the early hours of yesterday, 6/2/2023,” said DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokeswoman.
According to the information we have, the suspect and his accomplices opened fire indiscriminately in Omor Community, Ayamelum LGA, killing six people and seriously injuring two more.

Ikenga stated that a joint task force team made up of military and police personnel had been sent to the area, and that their presence had strengthened the security of people and their property as well as the maintenance of law and order.
Patrols, operations in the area are still going on, and the situation is being watched, he said.
