Why Ariwoola was in UK on March 18 – Supreme Court speaks on CJN meeting with Tinubu
Claims that Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), met in secret with Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, have been refuted by the Supreme Court.
Both Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party are contesting Tinubu’s victory in the presidential vote on February 25.
There were rumors that went viral that Ariwoola had traveled to London in disguise while using a wheelchair, meeting Tinubu there.
Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s director of press and information, insisted that the report is completely false.
According to Akande, who spoke with Premium Times, the CJN visited the nation and presided over meetings of the National Judicial Council (NJC) on March 16 and 17.

The secretary of NJC, Gambo Saleh, was the only person with Ariwoola when he briefly left Nigeria on March 18 to receive medical attention in London, according to Akande.
“The CJN returned from his medical trip to London on March 23, reporting to the office (in Abuja) and working there until 8 o’clock that evening.
“On January 25, the CJN traveled for the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, which was the only time he did so earlier this year. On January 29, he came back,” Akande said.
