A Christian daily devotional platform, Daily In His Presence hosted by Word for World Ministries has laid bare some of the powers possessed by a spouse in a marriage.
The manual using 1 Kings 1. 1-4 as a guide reveal the power a spouse has over the partner with the case of King David in the Bible being old and weak but the elders believes he could be revived through a vibrant damsel which a young virgin damsel identified as Abishag was found.
Why would the thought of solution be traceable to a partner? Why not one of the other partners? These and more the author tried to x-ray under the topic which are from part one to three. See details:

A spouse is person in a marriage or marital relationship. Many are married and many more wants marriage but not many understand the power of a spouse and we want to consider today.
In the text today and as below, you will discovered that in other to rescue Old and weak King David, a spouse had to be be sought and giving to the king. All they need is reviving the king and in the search for a beautiful young damsel, Abishag was found. Why would the people do that? Why not other things? See the scripture.
📖 1 Kings 1:1 _Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat._ 1:2 _Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat_ . 1:3 _So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king_ . 1:4 _And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not._
There 7 basic powers that a spouse has over his or her partner that nobody else could have but we are seeing 3 for now. The powers can revive and even heal the partner.
1. Access Power. No one can access a man like his wife likewise the woman like her husband. The access even include the heart and the soul to know what lies in etc. If ordinary a girl friend or prostitute could access the inner man of Samson to suck out the secret of his power, a wife can do better.
2. Influence Power. A wife or husband can influence their partner more effectively than any other person. Even what no has been said to, a yes can still come up. A man can begin to behave his wife’s way and vise verbal.
3. Intimacy Power. A man or woman who is depressed can be revived through intimacy. Abishag was to do this to the king. Sitting or lying together romantically can terminate depression. Sicknesses can go and healing experience through intimacy. Sexual or intercourse heals on it’s own. Just a sex with your spouse can douse tension and grant extension of life. Intimacy is powerful like worship.
If we want to justify marriage, the power that lies in it must be maximized. Either wife or husband, you have access and influence on your partner and these can help with intimacy make life better and your partner happier and stronger; use it wisely. I wish we can discuss this more.

1. _Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat._
1:2 _Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat._
1 Kings 1:3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
. 1:4 _And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not._
Any spouse has power to do anything with his or her partner. The power to limit and power to extend. Power to lift and power to bring down. Power alleviate and power to appreciate. Power to make the partner live and power to kill. Power to attract hate and power to attract love. Power to make healthy or to make sick. Power to make wealthy and power to empty. Power with God and power with men.
Your spouse has the power to do and undo. Your life, growth, health, wealth, fame, shame, death, etc are in the hands of your spouse.
A spouse is next to God in any life. Failure to recognize and accept this fact will be to the perils of the person. This is also why we must be careful who we marry but not just being careful who we marry but been careful how we treat who we marry.
If you understand the powers of spouse and how to treat your spouse, 90 percent of the family problem is treated. There are other 4 basic powers a spouse has just like we mentioned 7 basic powers in part one (Cont from part 1).
3. Backing Power . Every soldier at war has a backing. No man who wants to go far in life do so without a backing. Every wife should have their parent backing and every husband should have same.
Father, mother, uncles, aunties, brothers and sisters are supposed to be the primary back up of a wife or husband aside God and spirituality . This is why family permission and blessing is very crucial in marriage.
Where someone is an orphan and have no family, someone has to be adopted before marriage such as spiritual father or mentor. Where these people or one or two of them exist, sir and ma, power exist. He or she can appear when battle becomes unbearable. He or she you might never knew their other sides might shock you when you cross your boundary with their Son or Daughter. Any of these people listed are backed up to a woman or man.
If the fellow has good behaviour at home and loved or loving, the higher the power but might not be seen until need for intervention. They can suggest and influence your spouse for or against you.
5. Progeny Power . Progeny power is power from one offspring. This is power of the children born in marriage or due to a union. Ps 127.3-7 reveals how powerful the children are and to their parent. They are like arrows and you know arrows from your stand can travel as far as the eye can see to bring down the enemy or hunt for solutions. They can equally withstand and combat with the enemies at the bother of their territory. Sometimes, we don’t know these power until something happen or until they grow. Men, let me warn here that your children might love you so much and even prefer to always be with you but their hearts goes to their mother in defence of her if you cross your boundaries. At your old age, they won’t separate from their mother like they would definitely separate from you and if you treat their mother wickedly now in their presence, get ready for abandonment and manhandled when you are old as your punishment.

We are rounding off this subject of discussion today by His grace as we consider the remaining 2 basic powers of any spouse either it is known, engaged or not. With consideration to the guiding text, the powers are unveiled! Can you read the text and try to figure out the powers which also means the reasons Abishag was contracted?
📖1 Kings 1:1-4.

1:2 _Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat_ .
1:3 _So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king._
1:4 _And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not._
If carefully studied the scripture above, you see the intentions of the elders for contracting Abishag when they realize the state of the king’s. Let’s see the 2 basic powers now but remember its a continuation of part one where we mentioned 3 powers out is 7 and part two that we mentioned 2 powers out of the remaining 5 and today, we are mentioning the remaining 2 of 7 in total.
6. Safety Power. The basic reason Abishag was sought was to safe king David. He was told old to glow and too weak to win even in battle so the elders prescribed a young virgin damsel to safe his life.
Sir and ma, your life outside God is in the hand of your spouse. Treat your spouse well. Your spouse might not be able to give you security as only God can secure but men can try on safety. A spouse that cant protect or safeguard his or her spouse is a failure.
Safety from hunger through provision of food, safety from cold by providing a covering, safety from inlaws and the public by dealing with your issues yourselves, safety from anything that can hurt him or her is power possessed by a spouse. Use the power and protect your spouse.
Don’t let death of your spouse be traceable to you either emotionally, spiritually, financially, mentally etc.
7. Multiplication Power . Other people call it fruitfulness. You are not suppose to be a father or mother without a spouse.
Abishag was to heat up David by laying in bed with him. Such heat can be liking to the incubation of eggs by hens. It makes reproduction possible.
David might not be able to produce an offspring anymore as at then but not an impossible thing.
Your spouse is shouldered with the responsibility to reproduce and be fruitful. Anytime this is difficult despite passionate desire and efforts, spirituality through prayers and praise should be consulted.
A spouse been with a partner should lead to doubling the joy, peace, progress, results and etc of that his or her partner. It is called multiplication power.
📖 Ecclesiastes 4:9
_Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour_ .
