Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for president in the 2023 election, has accused Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, the platforms of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively, of plotting to “tear down” Nigeria.

According to reports, Atiku and Obi have both been given permission to challenge the results of the election on February 25 because they believe there was a fraud and other anomalies.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu was proclaimed the election’s victor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 1. Nevertheless, the PDP and the Labour Party candidates are appealing the results.

They subsequently submitted separate ex parte applications to the Appeal Court, pleading for permission to examine private documents used by INEC to conduct the presidential election.

In reacting to the conclusion of the election, Kachikwu called the opposition candidates to get together “to make sure that Nigeria operates”.

There are two alternatives available to us (the ADC),” Kachikwu stated in an interview with Punch that was released on Wednesday. “We have two options: burn down Nigeria like the Labour Party or PDP.

“What this also means is that if you don’t believe someone has won, you should start a protest and hope it sweeps the nation so we can install an interim government or anything. Alternatively, we may band together as an opposition, set a clear goal for Nigerians, and encourage the victorious party to develop a plan that we will hold them responsible too.

We must recognize that Nigeria and Nigerians are greater than political parties, individual egos, and personal goals. Our nation is currently facing difficulties. Our economy is in ruins. Our youth are jobless, the poverty rate is at an all-time high, and infrastructural deficits are at an all-time high. Security failed.

“We have difficulties because we have failed in every area that is essential for human progress. To ensure that Nigeria operates, we must now unite as a people.
