In relation to the governorship election, the Oyo State Election Petition Tribunal has received two petitions, while the House of Assembly election has received four.
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its candidate, Adeniran Oluwaseyi, filed the first petition challenging the outcome of the governorship election, while the Action Alliance (AA) and its candidate, Babatunde Ajala, filed the second. This information was provided by the tribunal’s secretary, Ibrahim Sada, yesterday in Ibadan.

The petitions, according to the secretary, were filed in opposition to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Governor Seyi Makinde as the victor of the March 18 governorship election.
According to him, Olowokere Adewale, the PDP’s candidate for the Orelope state Constituency, and the party filed petitions with the state House of Assembly.
Other petitioners, according to Sada, include the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Adeniyi Oluwaseun, a candidate for the Ogbomoso South state constituency, as well as the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adegoke Ayodeji.

The PDP’s Okedoyin Julius and their petition contesting the results of the state house of assembly election were also received, the secretary reported.
Adding that no new petitions could be filed, he stated that the legal deadline of 21 days for the filing of petitions by aggrieved parties had passed.
