Armed Robbers Force Radio Station Off Air

Radio Nigeria’s Prime 101.5FM Jimgbe, located in Kogi State, has been forced off air following a shocking armed robbery attack that saw its vital transmission equipment carted away.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, was confirmed by the General Manager of the station, Mr. Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, who described it as a major blow to public broadcasting in the state.
“This is a major attack on the station. We are currently off air because our equipment has been stolen by armed criminals,”
Adeiza lamented.
“When they came, they tied up our security man on duty to carry out their nefarious activities. Where do we go from here now?”
He further appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts in apprehending the culprits, adding that he has already informed the station’s Zonal Director about the development. Adeiza also called on relevant authorities to intervene and support the station’s recovery so it can resume operations.
Narrating the terrifying encounter, the night security man, Mr. Daniel Haruna, revealed that the robbers came heavily armed with guns and cutlasses. They made away with several key components, including copper parts of the feeder lines, 22 modules, armoured cables, generator batteries, and other essential equipment.
The attack has not only disrupted the station’s operations but also raised serious concerns about the safety of public infrastructure in the region.
