Numerous commuters heading to different parts of the country were abducted in an operation carried out by gunmen believed to be terrorists along the Zamfara-Funtua highway.
Mr. Nura Ola Tsafe, an eyewitness, claims that the terrorists carried out their operations on Friday and Saturday at various locations between Gusau- Gidan Dawa-Yandoto Daji in the State’s Tsafe Local Government Area.

He claimed that the bandits began their nefarious operations on Friday and carried them out until Saturday, taking captives to the forest in the process.
“The notorious bandits kidnapped innocent passengers while they were traveling to attend the annual Islamic Maulud. Terrorists kidnapped passengers from two commercial vehicles between Yandoton Daji and Kwatarkwashi, he claimed.
He added that some Tsafe residents were also attacked by bandits on Friday along Yandoton Daji-Gidan Dawa, but that the victims only just managed to flee due to the quick action of the military personnel.
Nura Tsafe bemoaned the fact that the operations on the Gusau-Funtua road had grown so concerning, especially with the country preparing for the general elections that are set for 2023.

Recall that a mop-up operation was carried out on the Zamfara-Funtua highway by the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Kolo Yusuf, and his tactical team to improve road security and commuter confidence.
