On Friday, the Presidency denied reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had refused to turn over power to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the president-elect.
It was understood that reports in an online news outlet had stated that the president had no intention of ceding power to the incoming president.
The presidency responded to the reports by stating that handover preparations are already well underway in a statement released by Mallam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

Governmental transition is already underway. To prepare for the transition to the Tinubu/Shettima administration, representatives of the outgoing and incoming administrations meet almost daily in the Transition Committee.
Thirteen committees that are offshoots of the main committee are either already at work or will be soon, some of which are planning military drills and President Buhari’s withdrawal. There are currently no problems and everything is running smoothly.
