Members of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) Federal College of Education Technical Bichi have unanimously decided to resume the industrial action they suspended on August 23, 2022, following the emergency congress meeting held on April 6, 2023.
The union claims that there will be a complete strike.
The union’s chairman, Dr. Hussein Yahaya, and secretary, Moji Kenneth Terngu, made the revelation yesterday during a press conference held at the state NUJ secretariat. They claimed that given the management’s lackluster attitude, the union is forced to use the last resort of a strike action.

According to Yahaya, the foundation for the industrial action is the high level of consistent insensitivity to decisions made with the assistance of relevant stakeholders.
“The union considered as unfortunate the action of the College management in implementing the resolutions of August 18, 2022, and January 10, 2023 predicated on issues of quality, Academic standard and other emerging issues affecting staff welfare, he stated.
The chairman enumerated some of the issues affecting the condition of service to among others include, Non-release of TETfund approved funds for different programmes/activities Teaching Practices Intervention, Book development funds, journal intervention, as well as Academic Staff training and development.”

He said others salient issues such as none payment of allowances from the main stream and affiliate programmes, lack of internet services, non-release of impress and responsibility allowance.
Other challenges include none release of impress, Non supply of learning resources, Non remitting of pension funds, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Staff multi purpose cooperative society, fund and union check off dues deductions.
