Nasarawa: Residence of Ombugadu Invaded Same Day Election Petition Tribunal declared him winner

The home of the new Governor-Elect, Dr David Ombugadu has been invaded by excited residents in jubilation over his victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Monday.
Dr David Ombugadu who resides in the city of Akwanga in Nasarawa state received hundreds of well-wishers singing and dancing in support of his victory at the Tribunal sitting in Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa State.
The State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, declared Ombugadu of the People Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the March 18 Governorship Election and ordered the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return issued to Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Sule the winner of the election after the Governorship election in March.
Following the declaration, David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed to the tribunal to challenge his opponent’s victory, Abdullahi Sule of the APC.
In a split judgment by the three-man Tribunal headed by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, on Monday, the majority declared Ombugadu as the winner of the election.
Reacting to the judgment as gathered by TEC News correspondent, the former Senate President Bukola Saraki tweeted, “I congratulate Hon. David Ombugadu of our great party, PDP, who has been declared the winner of the Nasarawa State Governorship election by the Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal. This judicial victory is a resounding affirmation of the people’s will, and it serves as a reminder that democracy is and must always be the bedrock of our nation.”
The residents of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State since the announcement have taken to the streets in jubilation and trooped to the home of the new Governor-Elect, Dr Ombugadu. Incidentally, Governor Sule and the Governor-Elect, His Excellency David Ombugadu reside in the same Akwanga Local Government of Nasarawa State.
