Whitney Adeniran: Lagos DPP will issue legal advice on death of student’s case

LAGOS – Through the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), the government of Lagos State has given instructions to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to provide a legal opinion regarding the death of a student named Whitney Adeniran who attended Chrisland School.

In spite of the school’s assertion that the female student was ill, the results of the autopsy showed that the student Adeniran, who was 12 years old and attended Chrisland School, passed away on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 as a result of electrocution. This information was discovered after the autopsy was performed.

Asphyxiation and electrocution were found to be Whitney’s causes of death, according to the post-mortem report, which was released in a statement on Thursday by Alo Grace, who is the Director of Public Affairs for the Ministry of Justice.

The statement also indicated that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions had been instructed by the AG to issue legal advice on the matter with immediate effect. This was indicated by the fact that the statement was released.

“The statement from the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onig­banjo (SAN), states that the post-mortem report revealed the cause of death to be asphyxia and electrocution. The statement also states that the cause of death was revealed by the post-mortem report.

The Lagos State Government extends its condolences to the family of the person who passed away, and it has assured the people of Lagos that anyone who is found to be responsible will be taken to court without delay. On Thursday, Whitney’s body was laid to rest after a funeral service.
