The South-South coordinator of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Vanguard (BATV) and chairman of the National Protocol Committee of Tinubu Independent Campaign Council in Rivers State (ICC), Chief Tony Okocha, revealed that Governor Nyesom Wike played a crucial role in Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s victory in Rivers State while everyone was still in the euphoria of the election victory.
It would be an understatement, according to Chief Okocha, who spoke to journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday, to say that Governor Wike was crucial to Tinubu’s victory in Rivers.
Without Wike’s financial, material, and human support, according to Okocha, Tinubu would not have won the Rivers State presidential election.

“I don’t even know the right words to use to express how important the governor was to Tinubu’s victory. Wike played a crucial role in the APC’s victory in Rivers State a million times over. When the APC governor was in office in 2015, I served as chief of staff. All the well-known figures you hear about today have left their respective political parties in search of better opportunities.
“They did everything they could in 2015, but they were unable to deliver the APC’s presidential candidate in 2015. In Rivers State’s presidential election in 2015, President Buhari received only 65,000 of the two million votes cast; Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP received the majority of the votes, and Wike played a key role in his victory.
“In 2019, the situation deteriorated. The governorship in 2019 caused us to be divided, which made it impossible for us to cooperate and produce the desired results. 2019 saw an increase in the problem. Rather than the presidential election dividing us in 2019, it was the governorship election. Despite this, we all continued to cooperate, but the outcome was even more appalling.

A few days before the election, the same governor who was collaborating with the G5 governors joined forces with us. He then threw his support behind Tinubu. He advised the people of Rivers to support the presidential candidate who will do so once he is elected in order to support the Rivers people.
