Amadi Osaronu, the secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State’s Ikwerre Local Government Area, has been kidnapped by assailants.
Chukwudi Ogbonna, a candidate for the Accord Party (AP) in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Constituency 2 of the Rivers State House of Assembly for the March 18 election, was abducted by gunmen less than 24 hours prior.
Gunmen clad in police gear reportedly kidnapped Osaronu on Wednesday from his home in Aluu.

On Thursday, the incident was confirmed by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju.
The result of the March 18 election, which would be a crushing defeat for the People’s Democratic Party, wouldn’t be changed by intimidation or arm-twisting, he claimed.
A statement on the incident has not been released by the State Police Command.
