Timi Frank reacts as Amaechi names those who appointed Mahmood Yakubu, saying, ‘He needs to be arrested’
Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been called for arrest by Timi Frank, a former APC deputy national publicity secretary.
In a previously reported brief video clip that was circulated online, Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation, claimed that the APC was not running against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but rather against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Police.
He also recalled how he and others had opposed the appointment of Yakubu Mahmood as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, someone in the administration of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, recommended Mahmood for reappointment.
Timi Frank responded to this by applauding Amaechi for identifying the individuals who actually chose Mahmood Yakubu to lead INEC in a statement released on Sunday.
He argued that Mahmood should be arrested for lying and refusing to follow the commission’s instructions regarding the 2023 election because he had no intention of holding an honest election and had instead deceived Nigerians.
Frank insisted that widespread rigging and violence in the majority of the states caused the first and second elections to be seriously flawed.
According to Amaechi’s admission, he continued, Mahmood only came to hold an election that was free and fair, not to reward those who appointed him.
“It is obvious that the INEC Chairman did not have any good intentions to give Nigerians a credible election, but rather to just come and handover,” he said.

Because of the hatchet job he was willing to pull for those who helped him get elected, he chose to deceive Nigerians and refused to follow the Commission’s own election guidelines.
“The INEC chairman needs to be detained for lying and his refusal to adhere to the model and rules established by the commission, which is a criminal act.
“For this reason, he gave Tinubu and the APC Nigeria. Wike was then given Rivers State because there had not been an election in the state. He only gave his benefactor a reward.
