INEC declares Umo Eno winner of Akwa Ibom governor election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Mr. Umo Eno, candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is the victor in the election for governor of Akwa Ibom State, which took place on March 18.

On Sunday, the results were announced by Prof. Emmanuel Adigio, who serves as the Returning Officer for INEC and is also the Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Maritime University, Delta.

According to him, Eno was victorious in 29 of the state’s 31 local government areas, which allowed him to unseat Sen. Bassey Akpan of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

According to him, the candidate for the PDP received 354,348 votes, which was enough to defeat the candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP), who received 136,262 votes.

In addition, he mentioned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 129,602 votes, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 12,509 votes, and the Labour Party (LP) received 4,746 votes.
