A student of the Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest at the institution’s main entrance, drawing attention to the absence of a chapel or designated worship space for Christian students on campus.

Sitting on the ground with legs stretched across the entrance, the student held up a placard that read: “No chapel, no stable space. Christian students deserve better.”

The demonstration, though peaceful, highlighted what he described as long-standing concerns over unequal access to religious facilities within the university environment.

Students who spoke in passing noted that while other religious groups reportedly have established places of worship on campus, Christian students have continued to rely on improvised locations for fellowship and prayer.

The protest has sparked conversations online, with many calling on the university authorities, the Gombe State Government, and the Federal Ministry of Education to intervene and ensure fairness, inclusivity, and respect for religious rights as provided by the Nigerian Constitution.

As of press time, the university management had not issued an official response regarding the concerns raised.
