Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the foremost sociopolitical youth organization in the South East, has disapproved of the country’s senate president for the tenth senate.
The group is adamantly requesting that Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for president of Nigeria, receive the mandate that Nigerians had previously granted to him.
The COSEYL president general, Hon. Goodluck Ibem, referred to it as an insult for someone who was elected as number one to be appeased with a rubber stamp number three position in a statement released in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

They issued a warning, adding that it does not represent the political interests of the South East’s constituents, that the South East senators vying to be elected as the 10th Senate’s senate president are only doing it for themselves.

We back Mr. Peter Obi because he has the skills to lead the nation out of its current predicament rather than because he is from the South East or because he won the election. The nation is heavily indebted, both internally and externally, and Mr. Peter Obi is fully prepared and equipped to pay off our nation’s debts and also shift the country from consumption to production. Mr. Peter Obi as President will greatly benefit the nation.
The president-elect was urged to resign by the youth body so that the senate presidency could be freely zoned to the geopolitical region of his choice.
