Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has reaffirmed his claim that he was willing to answer questions from the EFCC’s agents after leaving office and that he had no fear of doing so.
With regard to the current struggles facing Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) embattled national chairman, Wike asserted that the party will be stronger without Ayu remaining in the position.
The Governor argued that under Dr. Ayu, PDP lost its strength and lacked the kind of leadership that would have made it a powerful political force to be reckoned with because the embattled national chairman was preoccupied with grabbing any personal gains he could.
At the official opening of Rumuigbo Internal Roads in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area on Wednesday, Governor Wike made the charge in a speech at the Rumuigbo Civic Centre.
The governor declared that he was unable to support Dr. Ayu because he was occupied with constructing a private university in Benue State with the proceeds from the party’s congresses rather than providing the PDP with strong national leadership.
“Our country needs strong leadership, in my opinion. People whose only concern is making money cannot have my support.
“I can’t back causes where we held congresses, raised about N12.5 billion, and then saw that money disappear in a matter of two months. And someone who has been in office for a year is building a university, something I will not support.
Dr. Ayu’s ineffective leadership style, according to Governor Wike, is the reason he is supporting Dr. Ayu’s removal from office. He made this point clear to the party.

“For that reason, if we want the PDP to be strengthened, I support the idea that that bloody criminal must be removed from office. No one deserves an apology from me. We will win this fight, as I previously stated. It is the last one we will engage in.
Governor Wike spoke about the internal roads project and said that he had kept his promise to complete and inaugurate it himself, which he made in December 2022 when it was first flagged off.
They were informed by reliable sources that Governor Wike served the people of Rivers credibly while not also disappointing or embarrassing his kin. He expressed satisfaction at having performed well in office.
Up until the stroke of midnight on May 28, 2023, he promised to officially launch more projects, without pausing any currently active ones.
Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who presided over the project’s inauguration, praised Gov. Wike for securing more projects for the Rivers population. He said that Governor Wike’s access to excessive wealth was not the only reason for this, but also his dedication to improving Rivers residents’ quality of life.
The governor of the state, Governor Mohammed, also commended Governor Wike for his political shrewdness in ensuring that PDP won the governorship, every seat in the State Assembly, three senatorial seats, and the votes that helped elect his preferred southern president.
Dr. George Kelly Dakorinima Alabo, the Rivers State Commissioner for Works, gave a description of the project in which he stated that the roads are dispersed throughout 17 different streets of various sizes.

They were delivered within 5 months without causing any problems for the host community, he claims, and measure 8.5 kilometers in length.
The opening of the internal roads in Rumuigbo was mentioned by George Ariolu, the chairman of the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, as proof of the Wike administration’s urban renewal program.
Governor Wike was praised by the speaker for being one of the few politicians to consistently complete projects that have improved the lives of Rivers residents.
