Nasarawa Commissioner Task Schools on Reformalizing Teaching, Preaches Peace and Religious Tolerance as NAPPS holds Education Summit

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology for Nasarawa State, Dr John D.W Mamman has task Private School Operators on Reformalizing Teaching in the State.
He said this on Wednesday at the North Central Zonal Education Summit of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS at Innovative Schools, New Karu , Nasarawa State.
In his address, Dr John after tendering apology on behalf of the State Executive Governor , Engr Abdullahi Sule for his unavoidable absence also task the School Owners on the need for peace and religious tolerance.
He revealed he has been a teacher and ready to die as a teacher while he told School Operators to avoid using incompetent teachers in the classrooms
He emphasized that teaching job is not for the jobless and the need to ensure Professionalism cannot be sidelined. He also recognized the efforts of Private Schools as education is a collective efforts.
“Education cannot be a one man show but collective responsibilities of all. Where is the place of religion today. Let us keep our religion where they belong. Let us Live in peace with one another. If there is no peace, we can’t establish a school. A christian should go to church on Sunday and a Muslim should go to mosque on Friday but let us live in peace”. Dr Mamman said.
He also warn against having incompetent teachers in schools and not to give wrong knowledge to learners.
“Teaching has become a job for the jobless. Professionals should be encouraged . Methodology of teaching is important to impact the students. I am a Member of the teachers registration council in north central and never been ashamed to introduce myself as a teacher. I want to die a teacher. God is not foolish for making me a teacher. Let us try on reformalizing teaching to make our students better. I don’t want us to perish in Nigeria for lack of knowledge” he added.

The commissioner also encourage participants to Rejoice and be glad in everything no matter the situations.
We are encouraged to rejoice and be glad even as teachers. In his word , he said:
“Rejoice and be glad in everything. If the armed robbers, those into negative vices can be rejoicing, what about those of us doing legitimate things. Let us rejoice and be glad”.
National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS is the umbrella body for private schools in Nigeria and North Central Education Summit that began in Plateau State in 2017 held in Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and the 6th edition held in Nasarawa State 20th and 21st May, 2025. The Association BOT Chairman is Dr Said Mijinyawa and Comrade Jude Idakpo as a BOT for North Central. NAPPS Nigeria is under the leadership of Hajia Samira Jibir, Phd, FNAF, FIMC as the National President.
The National Vice President North Central, Dr Adetunji Abdulrahaman is the chief host, assisted by the vice President for North Central and immediate past Nasarawa State Chairman, Hon Boniface Ironumbe. The Nasarawa State Chairman, Elder Daniel Omaku Ogiri played the host.
Other respected leaders include the Nasarawa State NAPPS elder , Charles Umekwe and the former North Central Zonal President and a National Council Member, Ambassador Joseph Nwoke all spoke in the event and applauds private School owners in general for their sacrificial contributions to National development.
The event closed on Wednesday with awards presentation to deserving members and external bodies and individuals.
The vice Chairman for Nasarawa State who also chairmans the local Organizing Committee, Dr Andrew Olukayode repeatedly applauded the participants for contributing towards the success of the program with their registration and attendance in persons.
The theme of the North Central Education Summit for 2025 in Nasarawa State , Advancing Integrated Technology for Sustainable Private Education Practice became the driving force for all resource persons in the summit which include Dr Dlama Zira Joseph, Prof Abu Egwa Ozegya, Dr Eko O. Eko, Prof Josephine Egbor Odey and also the former NAPPS North Central Zonal Secretary, Lead Director and Consultant , Coach Da-Silva O. Johnson for Human Enhancement Institute who spoke briefly on maximizing Integrated technology for private schools practice .
