BREAKING: Controversy Rocks University as Students’ Union President Suspended Amid Election Dispute

The Students’ Union Parliament of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University on Thursday has suspended its President, Comrade Tivkaa Evelyn Terwanger, indefinitely over allegations of forgery, criminal impersonation, gross misconduct, and misappropriation of funds, as contained in a letter signed by the Speaker, Senator Henry Terfa, dated 12th August, 2025.
As contained in another letter, Vice President Comrade Ogberu Emmanuel Abi has been directed to assume office as Acting President pending the outcome of investigations.
The move comes amid renewed controversy over the June 21 Students’ Union election, which some insiders claim was marred by irregularities. One student alleged that the election, scheduled for a single day, stretched over three days due to portal failures, with only a fraction of students able to vote.
“I didn’t vote, but I was congratulated for voting,”
the student said.
Another concerned student, reacting via chat, condemned what they described as
“shameful rigging” that robbed the actual winner, identified as Joshua, of victory.
“Evelyn was in third place, and even Chia Dominic was far ahead of her, but she was declared winner. Look at what they are teaching young people — it’s disgraceful,”
the student lamented, accusing senior academics of hypocrisy.
As investigations continue, tensions remain high within the university community, with many calling for transparency and reform in the Students’ Union electoral process.
Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University is a new name approved by the State Governor recently replacing the formal name, Benue State University.
