Nigerian Cyclist Calls on Dangote Cement to Invest in The Gambia as Scarcity Persists

A Nigerian adventurer cycling from Nigeria to the United States identify as Real – Emmiwuks has called on Dangote Cement to extend its operations to The Gambia, where cement scarcity continues to affect construction and daily life.
The cyclist, who is currently on Day 164 of his NIG2USA expedition, made the appeal after passing the Dangote Cement Factory in Senegal while heading toward Mauritania. Describing the Senegal plant as “one of the biggest” in the country, he said the sight filled him with pride as a Nigerian.
According to him, seeing a Nigerian-owned conglomerate thriving and empowering people in another African country “reminded me of something deeper. Nigeria isn’t perfect, but we’re touching lives across Africa.”
However, he noted that The Gambia urgently needs similar investment, citing the severe difficulty Gambians face in accessing cement, rising prices, and stalled construction projects.
“Cement is extremely hard to get in The Gambia. Everyday people are struggling, construction is slow, and prices keep going up,” he said.
“With all humility, I’m calling on the Dangote Group: please extend this same impact to The Gambia. Your presence will change lives, create jobs, and bring relief to a lot of people.”
He encouraged the public to tag Dangote Industries and Dangote Cement Nigeria, emphasizing that African development is strongest when driven by Africans.
The cyclist concluded with a message of unity, saying, “Africa wins when Africans build Africa. Together we rise. Together we ride.”
His journey, shared under the hashtag #NIG2USA, has continued to draw attention across the continent as he documents stories, encounters, and calls for African-led growth along his route.
