Senate presidency: Adamu tells Orji Kalu, Yari to hold their fire as they give him letter of complaint

Uzor Orji Kalu, the chief whip in the senate, Abdulaziz Yari, the incoming senator, and Mohammed Musa, the senator for Niger East, have all voiced their opposition to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s nominations for leadership positions in the senate.

Godswill Akpabio, a former minister for Niger Delta affairs, and Barau Jibrin, a senator from Kano North, were the candidates the party put forward for senate president and vice president, respectively.

On Thursday in Abuja, during a meeting with Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the APC, Yari expressed their dissatisfaction with the arrangement.
Former Zamfara governor Yari claimed that the senators want an even playing field.

He handed over a letter of protest and said, “We are here to present our letter of grievances to you and also tell this honourable house that as leaders we are not satisfied with the arrangement.

“What we expect from you people is to give us fair play, at least if nothing, to mention that a specific position is zoned and anyone in that zone can’t participate,” the statement continued.

Adamu promised that the party’s leadership would review their letter and address their concerns.

We are the custodians of the party as NWC, but we are not acting alone. Hold the fire until the last word is heard from us. The voice of Tinubu, the incoming president, is crucial, Adamu said.

“We must make every effort to accommodate him. I’m not willing to give in on that. He is currently abroad, but by God’s grace, when he returns, we will go back to the drawing board, get our minds together once more, and see what we can come up with.

I won’t act before the meeting with the president-elect because I can’t foresee it.
